FAQs

Where are you based?

Our head office and central processing hub is in the North West of England, but our operators are based strategically across the UK so we can provide a true national service.

What height and distance can you fly?

As a general rule, drones in the UK can legally fly up to a maximum height of 400ft (122m) above the ground (take-off point) and 500m away from the operator (1km radius).  These distances can vary depending on the location but line of sight must be kept at all times unless we apply for special exemptions.

Can you fly near airports and built up areas?

Operating near airports and built up areas is possible with the correct planning and permissions in place.  Helicam Services are well versed in gaining these permissions but they can sometimes affect how quickly we can carry out the job.

Each flight comes with its own unique challenges but these can normally be ironed out during the pre-flight planning stage and will be discussed with you prior to us proceeding with the job.

Does rain and wind affect your work?

Technically no.  The majority of our UAV’s can fly in winds of up to 22mph with some also being water resistant, although these conditions aren’t ideal for producing crisp / clear images.

Where possible our jobs are planned around the weather conditions which we monitor on the run up to each shoot.
